**POSITION TITLE**: Grounds Maintenance Seasonal Worker - non-union

**COMPENSATION**:$17.50 per hour worked plus 4% vacation pay

Reporting to the Facilities and Grounds Manager - Western Region Cemeteries, the Seasonal Service Operator performs landscaping related and other cleaning and maintenance tasks of cemetery grounds and buildings as assigned for the Heavenly Rest group of cemeteries. This position may assist, when business needs dictate, full-time Service Operators in the setup, tear down and attendance at burials.

**SUMMARY OF DUTIES**:

- Performs landscaping and outdoor grounds maintenance including, but not limited to: grass cutting, line trimming, weeding, mulching, flowerbed clearing, planting flowers, watering plants/flowers, garbage and debris pickup, raking leaves/grass, trimming shrub beds.
- Assists, as assigned and where business needs dictate, in the set up, tear down and attendance at burials/interments.
- Works in a respectful manner that recognizes the uniqueness of the workplace.
- Provides welcoming, polite and professional customer service to cemetery visitors and families in need of assistance and/or directions.
- Ensures compliance with all health and safety requirements as outlined by legislation and/or company policies, procedures, and guidelines. Uses and/or wears the safety equipment as required by the employer.
- Other duties of a similar nature as assigned by the Manager (or designate).

**QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS**:

- Secondary school diploma or equivalent or currently enrolled and in progress of obtaining.
- A valid Ontario Drivers' license along with an acceptable to the DOL drivers abstract.
- Previous experience working with outdoor industrial landscaping equipment is preferred.
- Experience working positively and professionally in a team environment.
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to provide professional and friendly response.
- Previous experience working with the public and providing high levels of customer service is an asset.
- Punctual, self-motivated and task focused individual with the ability and flexibility to adjust job focus when required by business needs.
- Desire and ability to cordially accept feedback and adjust performance in a positive manner.
- The ability and willingness to work in various outdoor weather conditions including heat, cold, rain and wind.
- The ability and willingness to perform physical manual labour of a landscaping nature.
- Professional representative of the Diocese of London at all times with an understanding of and desire to support and promote the mission of the Diocese of London and Heavenly Rest group of Cemeteries.
- A police record check as deemed acceptable by the Diocese of London.
- Basic computer knowledge and skills to complete mandatory on-line training.

**Job Type**: Seasonal
Contract length: 30 weeks

Pay: $17.20-$17.50 per hour
