**JOB SUMMARY**

The Payroll Supervisor oversees the payroll process and ensures timely and accurate processing of all payroll related activities. The position continually examines and implements processes and practices, including technical system enhancements for improvements and efficiencies.

The role includes consultation with leadership, management, Finance, and Human Resources regarding payroll processes and practices and is responsible for ensuring compliance with Canada Revenue Agency, Collective Agreement, pension, corporate policies and employment standards. Through the resolution of issues and implementation of effective solutions, the position strives to continually improve the administration of payroll processing. The Payroll Supervisor prepares and analyzes payroll financial data monthly. This role is also responsible for analysis and financial reporting requirements for both calendar and fiscal year ends.

The position interacts with various stakeholders, internal and external concerning complex Human Resource Information System and payroll issues that require professional expertise.

The Payroll Supervisor leads a team of Payroll Administrators by managing accuracy and productivity of day-to-day operations by planning and effectively managing the team’s workload.

The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for:

- The accurate and timely payment of salaries and recording of benefits and deductions
- Ensuring payroll compliance with regulatory, and internal and external reporting requirements
- Coordinating and administering calendar year end processes to ensure accurate year end closures and preparation for the following year
- The accuracy of AGLC payroll general ledger accounts to ensure integrity of the financial data used for financial statements and various business purposes
- Coordinating and administering payroll related fiscal year end financial requirements
- Managing the new set-ups, changes, and testing in ePersonality system
- Monitoring changes and updates to payroll related legislation including benefit, pension, and Collective Agreement to ensure compliance and accuracy in the administration of AGLC payroll
- Providing and overseeing the training of staff and timekeepers to ensure a consistent understanding of payroll processes and requirements.

**SKILLS & ABILITIES**

The following qualifications are required:

- A post-secondary diploma in business administration
- 5 years of progressively responsible payroll experience with 3 years of supervisory experience in a complex computerized payroll system
- Experience with Microsoft Office with strong knowledge of Excel and Word
- Experience with and a good understanding of HRIS
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certification

The following are considered assets:

- Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) Certification
- Knowledge of ePersonality
- Completion of Accounting courses
