**The Position**:
We are looking for a Commercial Insurance Market Consultant to join our Commercial Lines Department working at one of our branch offices in the Eastern Ontario Region (Stittsville, Barrhaven, Almonte, Renfrew, St. Laurent Boulevard, Ottawa Antares, Ottawa, Cyrville, Orléans, Cornwall, Arnprior).
- _**Position Summary**:
To provide assistance to Account Executives and Account Managers in placing and retaining Commercial Lines Accounts by negotiating with various Insurance carriers. To establish strong BL market relationships to expedite placement, pricing and risk evaluation. To place commercial risks as per production metrics.

**What you will be doing**:

- Review and assess submissions provided by Account Executives and Account Managers, obtain missing, relevant information and documents, and ensure that we provide complete and professional submission to Insurance carriers for their assessment and pricing.
- Make suggestions and recommendations to Account Executive for additional and better coverages in order to help in closing the sale and servicing the customer’s true needs, reduce E & O risk and aligning with the best market coverage and service.
- Communicate with Underwriters and discuss risk analysis, coverage options and relate the benefit to them to entertain the account. Work with the Account Executive and market to design and conduct loss control program.
- Monitor the response times of carriers and keep Account Executive up to date on the marketing activity of the account by relaying any quotations, declines or requests for additional information from various Underwriters. Achieve 80% closure rate on submissions.
- Act as a resource for Account Executives and Account Managers with respect to interpreting coverage and advising on market availability for different classes of business; Advise Associates and Management of changes in the marketplace and the changing requirements of various underwriter.
- Notify Management of any problems with existing markets and strive to keep them from escalating; Notify Management of new suppliers of coverage that could be helpful to Brokerlink in writing new business or maintaining existing accounts; Communicate with Team-mates any useful news from the Insurance Market.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of Insurers appetites for business to assist in recognizing appropriate markets for various classes of business and determine the feasibility of placing certain accounts with those markets
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with Underwriters and Commercial Lines Associates; Maintain log of marketing activities for Management to assist in reviewing performance of Marketing Department, Commercial Lines Account Executives and Insurers.
- Promote marketing function to support and expedite 10% growth in commercial insurance products and customers.

**What you bring to the table**:

- Post-secondary education.
- 5 years or more years of insurance industry experience, with extensive commercial lines experience and commercial underwriting experience.
- Experience with business relationship development with different insurance markets and companies.
- Able to conduct business analysis on MGA/wholesale insurance.
- CIP, CRM or CAIB or working towards an insurance designation.
- RIBO License.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
- Computer skills - proficient in MS Office.
- Teamwork - must work with both BrokerLink commercial lines staff and with insurers.
- Integrity - must earn trust of insurers regarding abilities and professionalism.
- Fairness - must treat each submission equally.
