Fujiya (fujiya.ca) is a Japanese specialty foods business that has been in operation for nearly 50 years. Since opening the first store in Vancouver, we have grown to 4 locations in BC: Strathcona (Clark Drive), Downtown Vancouver, Richmond, and Victoria.

As an assistant supervisor at Fujiya Foods Victoria location, you will work with a team of 10-15 staff and will oversee and help supervise kitchen staff

**Hours**
- Between 7AM - 5PM (4-8 hour shifts)
- Full time (4-5 days per week)

**Job Duties**

Assistant Supervisors are responsible for all general Kitchen job duties, in addition to the following:

- Oversee and help supervise kitchen staff
- Train and monitor progress of new employees
- Advise the Manager/Supervisor on employee performance, compensation, promotions, and dismissals
- Develop employee schedules with the Manager/Supervisor and report any absences or tardiness
- Help maintain and improve the productivity and engagement of the team
- Monitor quality, taste, and presentation of food
- Delegate duties, assign tasks and follow up with the team
- Order ingredients and/or supplies
- Plan new dishes and menus.
- Ensure proper organization of kitchen and storage areas
- Oversee and manage all catering orders
- Assist Managers/Supervisors with problem solving
- Handle & report customer service issues
- Food safe Level 1 & Occupational First Aid Level 1 (Can be obtained during probation period)
- Responsible and passionate to spread Japanese food and culture
- Able to lift heavy items
- Experience managing or supervising a team is a plus
- Experience making sushi or working in a kitchen is a plus
- Knowledge in Japanese recipes is a plus
- Fluent in Japanese is a plus

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
