Here’s what we can do together:
Provide one to one and group support to children and youth with developmental disabilities and behavioural challenges, formulating goals, action plans and strategies together with clients and their caregivers, under the support and guidance of the Coordinators and Managers. Through community based recreational activities, increase each individual’s independence and provide support to the family from a client-centered approach. Work directly with children and youth who may have diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down’s Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Fragile X syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, and/or mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression.

What you bring:

- Two years of post secondary education or training in child & youth care or a related field
- Demonstrated experience working with children and youth with developmental disabilities, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Ability to teach functional life skills in a community setting
- Demonstrated ability to work with children and youth with developmental disabilities, and their families
- Ability to maintain a client’s safety in the community
- Criminal record check is a condition of employment
- Emergency First Aid is mandatory
- Driver’s License is **not **required
- Evening and weekend availability
- **Proof of Covid-19 vaccination status will be required**

Your key contributions:

- Supporting children and youth with developmental disabilities or experiencing challenging family dynamics
- Coaching children and youth through life transitions
- Forming supportive relationships with families and caregivers
- Completing confidential paperwork
- Planning fun learning activities in the community
- Working together with social workers, behaviour consultants and other professionals as part of an integrated team

**Work Hours**: 10-30 hours per week
_we require a minimum commitment of 10 hours/ week_) plus ongoing training.

Client direct time is scheduled on weekends and after school, on the same day each week for a minimum of 13 months

**Salary**:$22.93 per hour (GS 7 Step 1)
