A youth care worker is needed to join a team implementing an in-home intervention program for a child affected with Autism. This position is ideal for educational assistants or other youth workers who would like to supplement their income. You can start at 3pm in the week and finish at 11 pm depending on your availability. Monday - Sunday in the week. Schedules will be allow two days off in a row during the week.

Or 2nd shift available - Saturday and Sundays we are seeking help from 8 am - 4 pm. We are flexible with times and schedules.

The person we are looking for should be very patient, physically strong and fit and be able to follow the direction given by the Program Manager and other consultants - BC, Speech Therapist and Occupational Therapist, preferable someone with a post secondary education in a child related field. The child that you will be working with is a pleasant 15 year old boy, is verbal and has the ability to learn. There are times when this boy has challenging behaviours with complex needs and therefore it is advantageous for the incumbent to be able to handle such situations and think on their feet, to redirect the child, and to follow the plans set forth.

CPI or Mandt certification is preferable as well as a clean drivers abstract, first aid certification and training in autism. A criminal record check will also be needed.

It would be beneficial to have skills in task analysis, discreet trial, verbal behavior, play skills, language development, school integration and incidental learning. Training will be given.

The applicant should preferably be able to start immediately.

This is an essential service. We encourage staff to practice safe hygiene - washing of hands when they start their shift and regularly throughout the day as well as follow the guidelines as provided by BC's health ministry.

**Salary**: $24.00-$25.00 per hour
