At Recon, you’ll collaborate with safe, experienced, and dedicated professionals who are committed to delivering exceptional results for our clients, all while upholding the highest standards of safety and quality.

**Position Overview**

We are hiring for the positions of Horizontal Directional Drilling Driller & Locator, critical roles in supporting utility installation projects primarily in the Edmonton area.

**Responsibilities**

**Key duties include, but are not limited to**:

- Reading and interpreting drawings, locates, and diagrams.
- Operating various sizes of HDD drills and locating devices throughout drill shots to ensure accuracy.
- Working cohesively as a Driller/Locator team to complete directional drill shots, placing HDPE conduit or other shallow utilities.
- Performing pre-job walkthroughs and ensuring drill shots adhere to designated bore paths.
- Maintaining effective communication within the drill team using radios.
- Completing daily safety and operational paperwork (e.g., FLHAs, HDD Ground Disturbance Checklists).
- Participating in site safety activities such as orientations and toolbox meetings.
- Performing physical tasks, including lifting, walking, and handling materials.
- Following all HSE and quality management procedures.
- Conducting preventative maintenance and troubleshooting equipment.
- Managing remediation scopes and other labor tasks as required.

**Qualifications & Experience**
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of HDD drilling or locating experience (experience as both Driller and Locator is preferred).
- License: Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean Driver's Abstract.
- Certifications:

- CSTS
- Ground Disturbance Level II - Supervisor
- WHMIS
- First Aid _(Additional certifications like Leadership for Safety Excellence, Confined Space, H2S, and Fall Protection are considered assets.)_
- **Skills**:

- Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings and locates.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to adapt to various soil and topography conditions.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and physical fitness (capable of lifting +50 lbs).
- Safety-conscious attitude, problem-solving ability, and adaptability.

**Compensation & Benefits**
- Wage: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour (based on experience).
- Additional Pay: Overtime pay.
