Position Status:
Seasonal
The Seasonal Truck Driver will gain experience across multiple departments by assisting our Roads, Parks, and Sewer & Water crews in their various disciplines at different times throughout the year. The position will be responsible for sanding/plowing municipal streets along with operating trucks of various sizes and weights for the hauling and unloading of various equipment, materials, and supplies. The position will operate equipment in a safe and responsible manner including the completion of all pre-operational equipment checks.
**Qualifications**:
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) to five (5) years work experience directly related to truck operation and maintenance would be as asset.
- Experience in Heavy Equipment Operation would be considered an asset
- Knowledge of equipment, methods, and procedures used in road maintenance activities.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs, sit for prolonged periods of time, and climb in and out of equipment.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills with a proven focus on service delivery.
- Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations specifically concerning the requirements for job hazard analysis and the development of and training on safe work procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as a team.
- Ability to drive and operate a variety of equipment under varying conditions.
- Ability to get along well with others including supervisors, coworkers, members of the public and other partners in service.
- Must be able to be available for overtime and call-ins.
