Railroad Wayside Maintainer

**Summary**
A Railroad Wayside Maintainer is responsible for providing and supporting railroad wayside equipment maintenance and flagging protection on Class 1 Railroads and Regional Short Lines. The role will support services and maintenance for railroad wayside detectors on contract sites of CDL Canada. This position requires availability to perform flagging and maintenance services and respond within 24 hours or less to routine or emergency call outs. Additionally, the wayside maintainer is responsible for completing necessary documentation, including inspection reports/records and hours of service logs.
**Required Experiences**:
Minimum 2 years of experience with Class 1 Railroad, Regional Short Line or Railroad Contractor of On-Track Protection Service and Maintenance of Way (MOW) Departments.
- Position will be required to pass all required railroad rules training and testing and qualifications for providing personal and work group, on-track protection on both controlled and non-controlled railroad tracks.
- Preferred: Previous experience repairing and troubleshooting wayside equipment.
- Pass pre-employment drug screening and ongoing drug and alcohol screening required by federal regulatory agencies.
- Preferred: Experience working in a safety sensitive position obtaining track protection and/or flagging protection.
- Preferred: Prior successful completion of classroom rules and signal training which was sponsored by a qualified organization.
- Preferred: Previous mechanical, track maintenance, crossing signal and wayside detector maintenance experience.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Maintains wayside detectors, signaling and communication equipment located along the railway. **TRAVEL to different sites is required.**
- Prepares documentation of inspection records and hours of service logs.
- Duties and responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice.
- Be on call to respond to and repair any problems with the wayside system
.Request and provide on-track protection on controlled and non-controlled tracks.
- Other assigned duties by leadership.
**Physical Demands**:
- Standing, walking (potential of uneven ground), bending, kneeling and/or sitting for long periods of time.
- Climbing ladders to reach equipment and other high objects.
- Push/Pull/Lift/Moving 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Working in adverse weather conditions.

Pay: $40.00-$43.00 per hour
