**We are seeking a person with laundry experience who can temporarily cover a laundry attendant position for several months (with the possibility of becoming permanent)**

**_Reports to: _**Maintenance Manager

**_Qualifications: _**

1. Previous laundry experience, preferably in a retirement home.

2. Ability to speak read and write English. Must be able to follow verbal and written directions and to do simple arithmetic calculations.

3. Ability to do extensive standing, walking, squatting and lifting of laundry.

4. Must provide a medical certificate from a physician annually, stating physical and mental capability for this position.

5. Must be free of communicable diseases.

**_Physical Demands: _**

1. Standing for extended periods of time - for up to 8hrs/day.

2. Walking short distances and moving in tight spaces within Commercial Laundry Room.

3. Pulling/pushing/bending/lifting/transferring laundry carts, wet laundry, chemical pails, etc., up to 50lbs.

4. Reaching to upper shelving - at times with use of an 18inch to 3ft step ladder.

5. Ability to complete repetitive arm and upper body motions in intervals for periods of up to 8hrs while folding.

6. Working in warm temperatures for extended periods of time.

7. Some memory work required to know Residents and preferences.

**_Responsibilities: _**

1. To sort, wash, dry and fold laundry

2. To store and deliver linens and personal clothing.

3. Be knowledgeable of and practice residence's fire and safety programs.

**_Job Description: _**

1. Wash and dry laundry following established laundry procedures.

2. Fold laundry as required, sort and deliver personal laundry to the appropriate resident and store linens in the laundry room. Separate laundry in need of repair or replacement.

3. Remove lint from lint filters following the drying of each load.

4. Observe operation of machines and report any malfunctioning to the Laundry Manager.

5. Clean laundry equipment, tubs, floors and laundry area.

6. Notify Laundry Manager when laundry supplies are low.

7. Additional duties as assigned from time to time.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months
Part-time hours: 21-37 per week

**Salary**: $15.92 per hour

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Ottawa, ON K1S3N6: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
