**Inventory Manager**
**Overall, Purpose of the Role**:
Purchase goods, and materials to ensure that the company's operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery to ensure continuity of supply.
Monitoring Inventory on hand and stocking programs to ensure most in-demand products are on hand at all times and non-moving stock is reduced promptly.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Purchasing**:
- Purchase goods/ materials in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
- Allocate transfers to branches to ensure stock is on hand regularly and train branch managers on best transfer procedures
- Creating purchasing procedures, documents, and adjusting min/ maxes
- Make purchase order schedules to ensure continuity of product
- Verify or confirm vendor pricing is correct when ordered and audit branches.
- Ensuring promotions, bulk pricing or special pricing is utilized on every applicable purchase order and updated by the vendor before the expiration date
- Liaison between receiving, vendors, and head office to resolve any freight, price, quality, delivery or invoice issues
- Requesting Freight Quotes, item etas and item stock from vendors to better assist the sales team with giving the most accurate information to customers
- Communicate with any other relevant departments regarding any supply problems which may impact business operations
- Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities
- Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organization
- Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements
- When requested prepare updates on stocking programs, item costs, vendors, and inventory
- Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications
- Compile data relating to supplier performance to enable evaluation
- Assess and evaluate suppliers and contribute to performance reviews to ensure contract compliance
- Conduct research for new products and suppliers
**Inventory Management**:
- Work directly with DC manager(s) to create stocking programs (for smaller and larger branches) and capitalize on products in high demand
- Review cost reduction activities for any purchased items and their current costs
- Assisting Managers, with implementing sustainable purchasing and stocking programs as well as inventory control measures (Blowout branch sales for Non-Moving stock)
- Working with Tecsys order follow-up, vendors and branch managers to actively review inventory reduction in order to streamline inventory on hand
- Teaching and Managing 1-2 junior purchasers to support purchasing for the lower mainland (especially if we go into more centralized purchasing)
- Review branch inventory valuation quarterly, with specific examination of discontinued items, slow moving (no sales in 365 days) and excess stock (stock that exceeds 30 days of sales)
- Work in conjunction with the branches to create transfers moving slow moving stock from a location with little or no sales to a higher volume branch
- Coordinate new product launches, ensuring that branches are properly supporting the product launch (carrying the new product, merchandising the product so that it is visible and supporting any associated sales directives)
- Train new managers or their purchasing designate on best practices for replenishment/vendor ordering
- Providing vacation relief for purchasers in other branches as required
