Accounting Assistant Ii

**We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant II to support the Planning and Development Services department. This role involves daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, purchasing, and human resources tasks. The Accounting Assistant II plays a key role in supporting the accounting team by assisting with diverse tasks, providing financial support to department staff, and contributing to the review and oversight of accounting activities.
**Responsibilities**:
- Serve as the primary contact for department staff regarding supply chain management payments and invoice inquiries
- Process one-time payments, non-PO invoices, and invoice requests efficiently
- Review and monitor employee expense claims for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with corporate and departmental policies
- Provide support and guidance to staff on the proper entry of employee expenses
- Liaise with Human Resources on time entry inquiries and issues
- Support with time entry for staff members as needed
- Assist front counter staff with daily cash reconciliations, refunds, and accuracy reviews of daily transactions
- Support the departmental accountant with various general accounting tasksMaintain the departmental accounting filing system to ensure organization and accessibility
- **Qualifications and Skills**
- High school diploma with a minimum of five (5) years related accounting experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Knowledge of Oracle and SharePoint would be considered an asset
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing tasks while working independently
- Proficient in identifying and flagging issues that require further investigation, along with the ability to resolve them effectively
- Clear and concise communication skills for gathering necessary information
- Solid understanding of general accounting principlesExceptional attention to detail
