Arena Operator Ii

**This posting is for multiple hourly positions at: Millennium Place, Strathcona Olympiette Centre, Moyer Recreation Centre, Ardrossan Recreation Complex, Sherwood Park Arena/Sports Centre and Glen Allen Recreation Centre.**

The role of the hourly Arena Operator II is to provide guest service and is responsible for maintaining recreation facilities as it relates to facility inspections and preparation, ice making and maintenance, ice re-surfacing, and event support. Arena Operator II’s ensure facilities are kept clean and safe for guests and staff.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Be present throughout the facility and is the primary contact for arena guests
- Conduct daily activities in a leadership role, assisting peers with the completion of tasks and resolving operational issues
- Model a high level of service with internal and external guests
- Interact and build relationships with guests and other staff through friendly and courteous interactions and provide options and solutions for guest requests
- Follow operational procedures in response to facility emergencies, guest incidents, and ice plant mechanical issues
- Set up recreation facilities and provide service and support for guests, bookings, and special events
- Carry out regular housekeeping duties to ensure the facility is clean and safe for guests
- Safely operate the ice re-surfacer and arena maintenance equipment to maintain safe, high-quality ice surfacesPrepare and clean arena facilities for ice making sport court installation and turf

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Knowledge of facility programs and activities, and day-to-day facility operations, including basic ice plant operations, ice making and maintenance, re-surfacer operations, and safe work practices
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent customer services skills and the ability to positively interact with facility guests using strong conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently
- Ability to work varying shifts and hours, including evenings and weekends
- High School Diploma with 2 years related experiencePrevious municipal experience is an asset

**Conditions of Employment**
- Current Class 5 Driver’s License
- Obtain a current and valid Intermediate (Standard) First Aid CPR-C certification prior to the completion of trainingSubmission of Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
