Skilled Labourer/machine Operator

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Proficiency in oral and written communication
- Must be able to use a MITRE SAW, HORIZONTAL BANDSAW, DRILL PRESS, TAPPING
- Ability to use hand held ASSEMBLY/DEBURRING tools & GRINDING TOOLS
- Knowledge of SPC/WHMIS/QS9000
- Ability to work in a neat and organized manner
- Ability to fill in forms/tags/related documentation
- Ability to consistently meet production/setup rates
- Ability to work with wiring
- Ability to work with jigs/fixtures
- BLUE PRINT READING IS PREFERRED
- Review the traveler to ensure that the scope of work is understood, inclusive of set-up, run rate and material requirements and have agreement on meeting the delivery time requirements.
- Be aware and meet or exceed the run rates listed on the travelers in your area. Notify Plant Superintendent if run rate is unattainable or can be increased.
- Verify all final assemblies. Assembly is usually the last stage before shipping, therefore visual defect, unsightly debris, broken welds etc. must be prevented from shipping to the customer.
- Review the part print with the Project manager/Production Superintendent as required, to ensure that the manufacturing requirements are being met within the established control plan and scope of work.
- Ensure that drawings are at all times, up-to-date on the floor, and are the only drawings being referenced by manufacturing personnel. All obsolete drawings are to be marked as such and forwarded to Quality Control.
- Plan the activities of your assigned jobs, prioritize tasks and goals related to the jobs in a way to ensure that production schedules and run rates can be met.
- Ensure that the department personnel understand their work function so as to control and maximize work efficiency and eliminate employee idleness and non-productive time.
- Show and help team members on the correct way to complete job tasks assigned to them.
- Ensure that employees work throughout the scheduled shift period and do not leave their work areas unless directed by you or as required to complete their assigned job tasks.
- Update your Leader on the status of each assigned job including any issues or problems that will affect the scheduling of production.
- Function as a working Leader within a team, performing assembly, blanking, bending or other manufacturing duties as required to ensure that the delivery schedule is met for each job as directed by Leader or Production Superintendent.
- Ensure that all jobs are run efficiently and in accordance with established specifications prior to Quality Control Buy Off.
- Develop and maintain an open communications channel within the department team that facilitates a response to their needs and concerns within a positive environment.
- Complete the requirements on specific forms that detail work order number, part number, date and all other relevant job specifications. This includes ensuring all parts and materials are properly tagged.
- Ensure that components, tools and materials are maintained in an organized fashion in your work area. Keep up with inventory levels. Notify Leader of shortages.
- Maintain a sound housekeeping practices that allows for clear aisles ensuring a safe work area. Communicate this policy to the rest of the team.
- Other functions as may be directed by Management.

**Salary**: $17.60-$18.60 per hour
