**DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW**
The 52 bed Oncology and Medical Unit offers inpatient treatment and a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic services with a client centered approach to acute medical patients admitted with disease or disorders with the specialty of Oncology, Palliative Care and General Internal Medicine. Highly trained physicians, nurses and professional staff provide a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and management of these patients. This Oncology and Medical Unit is also part of the Clinical Teaching Unit as a component of our academic learning centre.

**KEY FUNCTION**:
Provide leadership and direction through planning and organizing of the day-to-day operations across the Oncology, Medical and Palliative unit, Medical Float Pool, and Overflow South and North. Promote the delivery of optimal patient care through effective resource management, daily operational oversight, and the integration of continuous quality improvement initiatives to ensure high standards of safety, efficiency, and patient outcomes within the Medicine Program.
