Housekeeping Support Worker

Under the immediate direction of the Facilities Manager, the Housekeeping Support Worker will maintain a safe, sanitary, internal and external environment. This position is an in-shelter role that is face past and requires good time management.
**Duties or Responsibilities**:
- Regularly and thoroughly clean all areas of the shelter and/or second stage housing, including administration, main office, basement, shared living space, bathrooms and, upon resident departures, bedrooms. Clean the outreach offices once a month.
- Regularly and thoroughly vacuum and wash floors, sanitize surface areas, clean bathroom toilets and sinks, wash windows and empty all garbage.
- Thoroughly clean residents’ bedrooms and bathrooms upon departure. Prepare the rooms for the next residents.
- Organize groceries and food donations.
- Clean, organize and inventory walk-in-refrigerator, pantry and other storage areas.
- Weekly grocery shopping.
- Assist with acceptance, organization, pick-up, disbursement and, if necessary, disposal of donated items.
- Assist the Facilities Manager with the upkeep and maintenance of the shelter and second stage housing.
- Attend to minor repairs in the shelter and second stage unit including assembling small furniture such as cribs and change tables.
- Respond to requests for small maintenance items.
- Ensure that all walkways are clear of snow and ice during the winter months.
- Report any issues with snow removal to the Facilities Manager.
**Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities**:
- Repetitive tasks, physically demanding, attention to detail, combination of sitting, standing, walking, lifting, bending, crouching, kneeling and standing for extended periods.
Able to pick up 30-40 pounds.
**Qualifications**:
- Experience providing similar or comparable services.
- Basic knowledge of violence against women and children.
- An understanding and acceptance of the need for confidentiality.
- Ability to conduct themselves in a non-judgemental and accepting manner towards women experiencing violence, human trafficking and living with mental health challenges and substance use.
- Good time management and organizational skills with the ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Self-motivated and dependable.
- Valid C.P.R. and First Aid Certificate.
- Valid Ontario Driver's Licence and access to a vehicle.
- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check.
- Driver’s Abstract
**Salary**: $21.04-$22.69 per hour
