**Your challenges**:
This position will be responsible to provide supervision and direction to mill personnel and external contractors to work in a safe and productive manner ensuring protection of the people and plant.
**Your primary responsibilities will include the following**:
- Responsible for the site fire protection system including having knowledge of the Ontario Fire Code and have the ability to read and interpret drawings,
- Assist in the isolation of fire water lines related to upset conditions or line breaks,
- Manage the 3rd party yard services contractor and janitorial services contractor at the site,
- Coordinate road repairs and snow removal on site with an external contractor,
- Maintain care and control of the on-site railway system ensuring it is maintained using an external contractor,
- Ensure company vehicles are permitted and licensed throughout the facility,
- Ensure compliance to internal and external policies, procedures, regulations and legislation with respect to fire systems, railways and insurance coverage,
- Manage waste generated on site and ensure delivery to a landfill,
- Coordinate the storage and movement of bio-fuel on site.
**Your team**:
Reporting to the manufacturing services manager, you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations. You will have unionized reports as well as external contractors.
**Your profile**:
- You should have a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field or have at least 3 years’ experience as a fire fighter at a level 1 or 2.
**Your skills and assets**:
- Excellent interpersonal skills required, including an ability to work collaboratively within a fast paced and structured environment,
- Good communication skills with excellent strategic thinking skills,
- Demonstrated ability to balance priorities that meet short and long-term objectives using organized and efficient work methods,
- Proficient analytical skills required as well as a strong background in MS Office and the ability to learn other computerized systems.
