Logistics Attendant

**Job Description**:
The Logistics Attendant is responsible to provide a high degree of service to the Emergency Department staff and physicians as it relates to supplies and equipment. Maintain and replenish appropriate stock levels for all medical surgical supplies. Collaborates with Biomed to review equipment requirements for the Emergency Department, arranges for replacements as required, assists with aiding in the longevity of equipment by ensuring care of equipment, education to staff and placement of equipment in safe locations.
- Establishing, maintaining and replenishing appropriate stock levels for all medical surgical supplies and equipment
- Serves as a liaison between ED staff, ED leadership and Biomed as well as stores and logistics
- Providing timely service regarding amendments to inventory levels on ED supply carts and collaborates with Logistics related to stock items and par levels
- Maintenance of supply carts by keeping products orderly and clean, rotation of stock, checking for expired product and collaborating with leadership on adjusting par levels based on ordering patterns with logistics as deemed required
- Transporting of equipment and supplies to zones within the ED to ensure the smooth flow of operations
- Providing safe patient care by ensuring equipment is clean and in working condition and located where the staff would need certain product or equipment
- Collaborates with Biomed to ensure good working condition of equipment, helps to educate the staff on care and processing of equipment
- Reports any improperly working equipment to supervisor
- Picks up equipment and supplies for reprocessing
- Picks up equipment identified as for disposal
- Other duties as assigned
**Education**:
- Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required
**Experience**:
- 1-2 years of Supplies and/or equipment experience in an Emergency Department or acute care area is preferred
**Requirements**:
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and customer service skills
- Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to push and pull wheeled equipment and moveable carts
- Able to lift, push and pull heavy loads (up to 60 lbs)
- Repetitive light and heavy lifting
- Extensive walking throughout the shift
- Frequent standing throughout the shift
Competencies:
- Product knowledge of medical surgical supplies an asset
- Ability to assist with working groups to advance the Emergency Department processes related to patient flow
- Knowledge of lean and quality improvement projects an asset
- Pleasant manner with neat appearance as patient interaction is a part of daily function
- Ability to prioritize workload with varying deliverables
- Ability to work both within a team and independently with mínimal supervision
- Adherence to policy and procedures related to health and safety and patient safety
- Must maintain confidentiality pertaining to patients and staff
- Ability to work flexible hours which will include weekends and may at times include evenings if required
