Onua Bakery is an artisan bakery & café, where we take pride in our unique approach to baking. We specialize in freshly baked artisanal sourdough and African-style bakery products such as bread, cakes, cookies, meat pies, cupcakes, chips, and other pastries, all made with our secret blend of ingredients and techniques.

**Duties**
- Prepare sourdough bread, African bread, pound cakes, chin chins, meat pies, cookies etc.
- Dough mixing, cutting, rolling, laying, forming, filling, shaping.
- Bake the mixed dough and batters.
- Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies.
- Draw up production schedules.
- Ensure that the quality of products meets established standards.
- Operate machinery.
- Organize and maintain inventory.
- Purchase baking supplies.
- May oversee sales of baked goods.
- Responsible for cleanliness, hygiene, equipment and tools maintenance follow up and workplace safety of the production area.
- May be part of an in-store demos crew at wholesale client locations or open markets.

**Qualifications, Skills, and Conditions**:

- Secondary School diploma or equivalent
- One year or more in cooking, preferably in a bakery environment, work experience
- Passionate in cooking and baking, accurate and punctual, good communicator, friendly and teamworking
- Ability to follow recipes and adjust them to suit different products and customer needs.
- Ability to measure and document recipes
- Ability to document processes and procedures.
- Attention to detail and maintaining high standards of quality.
- The ability to communicate in French is an asset

**Salary**: $18.5 - 20.5/hour +

Physical Demands: The physical demands this position is exposed to are: The employee will be on feet most of the day. Employee must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

**Experience **in cooking is a must, with a minimum of 3 years required. Additionally, possession of a Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent certification is preferred.

**Location**: Ottawa, ON K1N 0E7. Please note that you should be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
