Psw Clinical Supervisor

**Job description**

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about teaching adults and has the ability to effectively teach the Personal Support Worker curriculum here at Evergreen College. The instruction style should have a strong delivery in order to inspire and motivate our students. Have a strong handle on how to approach teaching adults from different cultural backgrounds, various levels of education and career experience. Effective classroom management is essential while encouraging and sustaining a positive learning environment. Remain in-line with our campus culture of preparing employable graduates for the Canadian workplace environment. Demonstrate an optimistic outlook towards newcomers and possible academic and/or interpersonal barriers. Proactively identify and remedy weaknesses in students with support from the Evergreen team when required.

Location of the job:
City of Toronto in person; Long term care facility

Working Schedule: 7am to 3pm or 3pm to 11pm; Monday to Friday

**Summary of Duties**
- Ensure students are aware of and understand the lesson objectives and outcomes.
- Support students in improving their skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing; various learning styles should be accommodated for optimal results.
- Update students on their progress and provide constructive feedback if needed.
- Provide ongoing mentoring and professional development to students in a creative and inspirational style.
- Foster a safe, bias-free, and respectful environment on a daily basis; proactively address any classroom conflicts in a timely manner.
- Record and maintain accurate attendance and grades for all students; address lateness and absenteeism as per the college’s compliance requirements.
- Support students in sourcing volunteer placements (a requirement to graduate from the program).
- Ensure that students achieve the Core Knowledge and Skill Competencies for each module taught.
- Mark assignments and tests, as required and evaluate performance demonstrations.
- Prepare and submit weekly reports on students’ progress.
- Ensure students’ compliance with punctuality and attendance, uniform dress code, ethical behavior and acquisition of skills while on placement at a long term care facility and/or assigned community placement
- Monitor students’ progress through communication with preceptors, other unit staff, supervisors, and clients
- Ensure that the students’ Skills Passbooks are completed correctly and signed by the appropriate personnel.
- Provide ongoing learning opportunities for students on placement

**Required Education and Qualifications**

The following qualifications are the minimum qualifications, and **MUST**be met for the primary Personal Support Worker Program Instructor:

- Must be a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with current registration and **NO**practice restrictions with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).Must present with a minimum of two (2) years current, relevant work experience in a Canadian clinical environment, preferably in a long-term care/community/chronic care setting.
- Must be a Personal Support Worker with a college certificate and NACC certificate from a PSW program, post-2015. Must present with a minimum of three (3) years current, relevant work experience in a Canadian clinical environment, preferably in a long-term care/hospital/community/chronic care setting; and

**Required Skills**:

- Impeccable ability to communicate in writing and verbally in English.
- Solid organizational skills; exceptionally responsive and detail-oriented.
- Independent and resourceful but willing to work in a collaborative manner.
- Strong computer, administrative and database management abilities.
- Strong Computer Skills.

- Copy of highest education degrees/diplomas.
- Able to provide 2 reference letters to verify the 36 months or more of employment
- Previous experience as a PSW in a long term care facility is an asset.
- Experience teaching, tutoring or giving presentations to adult learners is an asset
- Demonstrated leadership skills is an asset

Part-time hours: 40 per week

Pay: $22.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

**Education**:

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (required)

**Experience**:

- Teaching: 1 year (preferred)
- long-term care facility: 3 years (required)

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: From $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
