**What is the Role**
The primary function of the research and policy analysts is to ensure that organizational decisions, position statements, policies, and program planning are based upon thorough research and analysis. This position will have responsibility for guiding the work of the Dr. Stirling McDowell Foundation, a charitable foundation which supports research focused on teaching and learning within the PreK-12 publicly funded education sector in Saskatchewan.

**What You Will Do**
- Provide necessary research, analysis, reporting and technical expertise for all of the Federation’s functions including governance and administration (e.g., strategic planning process, constitutional and policy renewal), professional stewardship and responsibility, advocacy, communications (e.g., member, public and media relations), social justice, inclusion and equity, collective bargaining, and field and legal services.
- Develop and continually expand a comprehensive knowledge base regarding the STF’s priorities, policies, practices and political culture; school division and provincial Pre-K to 12 education systems and structures, policies and decision-making processes; relevant federal and provincial legislation and regulations; and relevant court decisions and case law in order to effectively provide research, analysis, reporting and technical expertise as required.
- Engage in various events, activities and meetings with a variety of member groups and teacher committees to ensure research, analysis and reports reflect the voice of teachers.
- Initiate, coordinate and/or manage legislative, bylaw and policy development and/or review processes in consultation with senior administrative staff and other staff members.
- Initiate, coordinate and/or manage research projects in consultation with senior administrative staff and other staff members.

**What You Will Bring**
- A graduate degree with a major focus on social, economic, and governance (policy) issues combined with 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience related to the core functions of the position.
- Knowledge of research methods, grant writing and community-based research.
- High developed organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Highly developed analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in professional writing.
- Experience with non-profit board governance.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a diverse team.
- Strong relationship-building skills within the organization.
