**We are currently seeking to add an **Sort Plant Attendant** to our team**
**Job Type**:Full Time
**Position Summary**:
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Operations:
- Manually sort materials from incoming wastes at sorting stations throughout the MRF, lift materials from conveyers and drop into appropriate areas
- Manually remove recyclable or reject material from various areas of the MRF
- Visually inspect recovered materials for product quality and remove contaminants, as necessary
- Comply with all applicable regulations policies and procedures
- Communicate by two-way radio on an “as needed” basis
- Through direction of other staff, start and stop equipment as needed
- Identify production enhancements
- Other related duties as assigned, including inter-changing job functions
- Cooperate with their employer and comply with the company’s SOP’s
- Participate in any education sessions provided
- Report to their Leaders any condition or change that may have an impact on this procedure
- Report any incidents or near misses in a timely manner
- Sort Construction and Demolition Waste in specific set categories
- General labour and housekeeping
Compliance, Health and Safety Support:
- Lead by example and promote a culture of safety and environmental protection in the workplace. Ensure adherence to KBL’s Health and Safety Management System by having a good knowledge of safe work standards, policies and procedures relevant to the facility and the work performed by facility personnel;
- Participate in toolbox meetings;
**Qualifications**:
- Position requires a high level of initiative and a positive attitude
- Must be able to follow both oral and written instructions
- Valid class 5 driver’s license is an asset
- Physically fit (able to lift to 100 lbs)
- WHMIS, TDG, and OH&S knowledge
- Must be clean shaven for safety mask fit testing requirements
- Ability to work alone with mínimal supervision
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment
**Working Conditions**:
Work is primarily carried out in the sort plant, but at times you may be required to go outside. Therefore, there can be exposure to extreme weather in the winter months. There can be exposure to dust, noise, mud, water, smoke, and bacteria.
Must be available to work within facility working hours over a 4-day 10 hour days during the week with the requirement for occasional additional hours.
