Reporting to the morning and afternoon Chefs, the Prep Cooks will help to prepare a variety of food for our staff and students on a daily basis. As a boarding house, we serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks to our students.

These positions are eligible for the School's benefits package.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items for cooking
- Cold prep station will entail prepping all the items for the salad bar, preparing the daily salad/sandwich special, filling and refilling the salad bars as needed and other duties as required
- Understand and consistently comply with portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules
- Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work station
- Promptly report equipment and food quality problems to the Chef on duty
- Act in accordance with all policies, procedures, dress code, and health and safety issues in accordance with WorkSafeBC, VIHA, fire regulations and health department requirements
- Work multiple stations

**Qualifications**
- The following are requirements for this position:_
- Demonstrated experience in a commercial or restaurant food setting - hot food cooking required
- Food Safe Level 1
- Minimum of 2 years working experience
- Knowledge of safety practices and industry standards with regards to food services activities
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written communication (including grammar and punctuation)
- Demonstrated history of strong customer-service mindset, with the ability to represent QMS in a professional, enthusiastic and positive manner
- Demonstrated understanding of working in an environment with a variety of constituents (students, parents, agents, vendors, faculty, board of governors, alumni) from many cultural backgrounds
- Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality of information
- Current 'Serving It Right' certification

**Working Conditions**
- Required to stand for extended periods of time
- Lifting of heavy objects may be required from time to time
- Work scheduled between August to June while school is in session, with optional work available in the summer on an as-needed basis
