The Aquatics Manager at the YMCA of Saskatoon is responsible for overseeing the operations of a single-guard swimming pool, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of aquatic programs and services. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) term position (maternity leave coverage with the possibility of extension).

This role includes scheduling, training, and supervising lifeguards and swim instructors, maintaining compliance with YMCA policies and safety regulations, and ensuring all aquatic activities are conducted in a safe and engaging environment. The Aquatics Manager also manages pool scheduling, program development, budget oversight, and community partnerships to maximize pool utilization and impact. Additionally, they play a key role in maintaining facility safety, water quality, and exceptional member experiences.

**Key Responsibilities**:** Program & Member Experience**
**- **Ensure the delivery of high-quality programs to increase member retention**:

- **Maintain a safe and engaging environment for staff, volunteers, and participants**:

- **Work with peer teams to coordinate programs, services, and activities**:

- **Respond promptly to members’ concerns and provide excellent customer service**

**Staff Supervision & Training**
**- **Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate lifeguards and swim instructors**:

- **Ensure all staff are on time, prepared, and engaged in their roles**:

- **Review and approve timesheets and monitor staff certifications and hours worked**:

- **Organize and lead Lifesaving Society leadership courses, including**:**- **Bronze Medallion**:

- **Bronze Cross**:

- **National Lifeguard & Recertifications**:

- **Standard First Aid and CPR-C with AED (Full Course and Recertifications)**
- **Conduct staff training and in-services at least 3 times per year**

**Aquatic Operations & Compliance**
**- **Maintain and update the online pool schedule each session**:

- **Ensure compliance with YMCA Child Safeguarding Policy and conduct annual training**:

- **Monitor and report pool statistics and ensure safety protocols are followed**:

- **Maintain and recommend aquatic supply inventory purchases**:

- **Update and enforce aquatic policies and procedures**:

- **Ensure all programs start and end on time**:

- **Supervise pool rentals and coordinate private swimming lessons**

**Budget & Administration**

- **Develop and maintain the aquatics budget, including first aid supply management**:

- **Support community outreach by maximizing pool usage and offering programs to community organizations**:

- **Assist with registration, Supervisor on Duty shifts, and special events**

**Qualifications**

- **Grade 12 or equivalent; some secondary education in a related field preferred**:

- **1+ year of supervisory experience**:

- **3+ years of lifeguard/swim instructor experience**:

- **Required Certifications**:**- **YMCA Swim Instructor or Swim for Life Instructor**:

- **National Lifeguard certification**:

- **Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C with AED (recertified within the last two years)**
- **Preferred Certifications**:**- **Lifesaving Instructor**:

- **National Lifeguard Instructor and First Aid Instructor (considered an asset)**:

- **Pool Operator certification (considered an asset)**
- **Evidence of a clear Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Search**:
