**Locomotive Operator, Casual**

Our Vegreville, Alberta terminal is currently seeking a **Casual Locomotive Operator**, reporting to the Operations Manager. The Locomotive Operator is responsible to perform duties related to the safe operation of the locomotive during grain loading. Our terminals load and ship once every 10 - 14 days. Work hours will vary and be dependent on the terminals loading schedule. The ability to work overtime during loading (evenings and/or weekends) is required.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Comply at all times with Corporate EH&S policies and best practices
- Safe operation of the locomotive on car loading day
- Promote effective communication and collaborative working relationships with GrainsConnect terminal and operations teams
- Ability to take direction from Operations and Terminal team while loading
- Troubleshoot minor locomotive problems

**KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**:
**Essential**
- Locomotive experience
- Must have good working knowledge of CROR (Canadian Railway Operating Requirements)
- Strong work ethic, ability to learn and willingness to take on responsibilities of the position
- Good communication and teamworks skills
- Ability to troubleshoot minor locomotive problems
- Good radio communication skills
- Physical ability to perform the functions of the role
- Ability to work overtime evenings and weekends as required

**Desirable**
- Current locomotive Operator Certification is an asset
- Familiarity with handling grain is an asset

**EDUCATION**:

- Grade 12 education or equivalent preferred

**Salary**: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
