ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN
**Job Function**:
Reports to the Director of Operations or the Maintenance Manager
Install, upgrade, service, repair and test all equipment relating to this trade, ie., security systems, closed circuit television, public address system, television, radio, LAN cabling systems, fibre optics servicing
Exercises independent judgment in troubleshooting electronic technical problems
Prioritizes work orders and organizes daily work schedule
Reads and interprets plans, drawings and specifications of District facilities for the layout of electronic system upgrades and repairs
Provides technical advice and information in the electronics field
Completes written records related to work performed
Ensures work area remains safe and free of debris while on the job site, at the end of each day and upon completion of work order
Maintains familiarity with standards, codes and by-laws regulating the electronics program
Maintains current knowledge of technological, procedural and regulatory developments
Performs duties in compliance with District and Government health and safety procedures and regulations that relate to work performed to minimize potential for accidents, injuries or hazards
Performs other job-related duties of comparable importance, difficulty and responsibility as required
**Qualifications**:
Grade 12 or equivalent
B.C. or Interprovincial Certificate of Apprenticeship in the trade of Electronics
Two (2) years experience at a Journeyman level in commercial and institutional electronics service work including maintenance, repair and installation of commercial and industrial equipment
Thorough knowledge of current techniques, methods, procedures and equipment applicable to the electronics field
Competency in the use and care of tools and equipment common to the trade
Working knowledge of computerized control software and equipment applicable to the electronics trade
Ability to organize workload, work under periodic pressure and complete assignments with mínimal supervision
Ability to perform duties in a courteous and cooperative manner and to deal effectively with others
Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, pushing, pulling and moving materials, equipment and supplies
Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License
**Hours of Work & Salary**:
40 hours per week, normally 7:00a.m. - 3:30p.m., Monday - Friday, at $33.41 per hour
