**Scope**

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for all day-to-day aspects of HR service to the client group. This position requires strong communication skills (written and verbal), interpersonal skills, and the ability to organize and prioritize.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Manage and track all employee status changes in the HRIS system and track documentation for new hires, transfers, wage changes, terminations, etc.
- Track training needs and facilitate sessions as needed including during onboarding and other
- Issue, track, and file performance reviews, corrective actions, policy sign-offs and other key documents
- Provide general administrative support with the preparation of correspondence, offer letters, employment verification, transfer/promotions, and other
- Support and participate in the execution of employee surveys
- Administration of the employee group benefit plan, including fielding questions and coordinating the annual open enrolment
- Assistance with the management of disability (STD, LTD) and accommodation programs
- Track and support accurate injury reporting to ensure timely completion of accident and incident reports and submission to the WSIB or other
- Manage the bulletin board and other communication channels in the plant
- Provide intake and assessment advice to the HR Manager regarding employee issues and their impact on performance. Determine root causes of issues and recommend appropriate resolution
- Support employees in all HR-related topics and resolve any issues that may arise in keeping with Company Policy and all regulations (e.g. the Employment Standards Act and the Human Rights Code)
- Schedule and support managers in monthly employee meetings
- Liaise with the Health and Safety Coordinator or others to schedule and ensure record keeping of regular Health and Safety committee meetings
- Support and ensure that plant housekeeping/safety audits are conducted as required
- Liaise with Kaizen teams, trainers, external consultants, cross divisional Kaizen co-ordinations as required.
- Adopt and practice Kaizen principles and concepts including GEAR program activities
- Track all submissions for the GEAR program and enter them into the appropriate database in a timely manner.
- Manage the Company’s merchandise programs and inventory.
- Follow all Company policies, procedures, guidelines, and adopted standards.

**Basic Requirements and Competencies**:

- A University degree/College diploma and/or equivalent experience in a field related to Human Resources Management.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and human relations skills to deal with sensitive and confidential employee matters.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong negotiation, coaching, mediation and persuasion skills
- Demonstrated initiative and flexibility; acts proactively in identifying and capitalizing on opportunities.
- Must be able to work effectively independently.
- Relationship building skills and ability to build trust and gain confidence of management and employees.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Human Resources function.
- Knowledge of Human Resources practices and principles, as well as knowledge of all applicable labour, human rights, and environmental, health and safety legislation.
- Computer literacy and an excellent knowledge of MS Office, Excel and Outlook.
