Accounting Manager

**The Role**:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions. They will supervise and support the Accountant in their day to day function, and coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements. The Accounting Manager is responsible for the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated company results and be confident in presenting this to leadership. This person will need to not only ensure financial and accounting functions run smoothly and accurately, but have a strong ability to see the big picture while keeping a keen eye on accuracy of the details.
**What you do**:
- Supervises and supports accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Capital Assets and Product Costing.
- Monitors cash flow and provides forecasts and recommendations to management.
- Oversees the maintenance and upgrade of the information systems and processes. Ensures proper controls are in place, the systems are used correctly and effectively.
- Develops and manages internal financial management controls to ensure cost effective financial responsibility.
- Provides tax planning, in conjunction with external tax advisors, and ensures compliance with all provincial, state, federal, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
- Analyze financial data to make recommendations for the business.
**How you do it**:
- Supervises the preparation of financial statements, variance analysis and regulatory reports and ensures they are prepared in compliance with GAAP.
- Participates, coordinates and directs the preparation of the revised plans as often as necessary to reflect changing strategies.
- Keeps management team apprised of all financial issues pertaining to company operations. Makes presentations at company meetings on the finances as required.
- Ensures best practices in key processes are continuously implemented throughout the business unit.
- Carries out other projects and duties as required.
**You bring**:
- CPA Designation
- 2+ years as full-cycle Senior Accountant, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager or equivalent
- Knowledgeable in all areas of accounting, payroll, and tax compliance
- Experience with PST or US VAT filing/compliance is an asset
- Experience working with Sales Force and/or Accounting Seed is an asset
- Experience in assessing and implementing effective internal controls
- Ability to work well with diverse cross-functional teams and thrive in a small-medium size business environment
- Solid knowledge of ASPE (IFRS and US GAAP will be considered)
- Strong understanding of cash management and forecasting
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication, able to speak to all levels of understanding
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Strong/proven experience in reporting to board or equivalent
- High attention to detail
