**Opportunity**:
MacEwan University is seeking a Childcare Worker II for a full-time continuing opportunity with the Early Learning at MacEwan (ELM) department. Reporting to the Manager, you are accountable for developing an inspiring and safe program, while providing an environment that meets the needs of all children, encouraging the total growth of the children at ELM. You will enter into a child nurturing relationship with the family of each child by providing a demonstration of the philosophy, program and techniques believed to be the most appropriate for young children and Early Learning and Care Curriculum (ELCC) students, community professionals, parents and any other interested person, while demonstrating professionalism in all areas.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading the playroom team, providing support and mentorship to Childcare Worker I's on the team;
- Developing and delivering high-quality programming, in accordance with Flight, Alberta's Early Learning and Care Curriculum Framework, to provide an environment in each playroom that meets the needs of children and supports their growth at the centre;
- Understanding the curriculum, philosophy, goals and vision of ELM, and reflecting current best practices in early learning and child initiated, play based, anti-bias curriculum with a focus on inclusion;
- Creating a safe and inviting environment, while adapting it to children's needs and interests;
- Proactively seeking out solutions when encountering problems and evaluating and making appropriate changes based on need;
- Communicating information regarding growth and development of children at appropriate times;
- Maintaining and updating childcare records;
- Ensuring and supporting educators in all policies and regulations including licensing and health and safety policies;
- Collaboratively engaging with parents and families while maintaining professional objectivity and confidentiality;
- Supporting parents in dealing with concerns and making appropriate referrals to the Manager; and
- Demonstrating the philosophy of Early Learning and Care in practice for young children and their families, BECCS students, professionals in the ELCC field, parents and the broader community.

- Dependability, reliability, punctuality and demonstrate a positive attitude.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- An Early Learning and Childcare Diploma which equates to Level 3 Provincial Certification or equivalency.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience with children that demonstrates an ability to carry out the duties required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

**POSITION REQUIREMENTS**:

- First Aid Certificate
- The successful incumbent will be required to obtain a Police Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check at their own cost.
