The Opportunity
Reporting to the Coordinator of Financial Planning and Analysis, the Grant Analyst will play a crucial role in managing financial aspects of one-time grants and gift reporting within our organization.
The Grant Analyst will provide support with all aspects of one-time grants including budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis while adhering to policies and guidelines and promoting strong internal control and best practices. The Grant Analyst will be responsible for ensuring compliance with one-time grant and gift requirements, maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing financial data, and providing insightful reporting to key stakeholders.
The Role
**Financial Analysis, Reporting and Compliance**:
Collaborate with stakeholders to prepare the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, monthly financial analysis, and regulatory reporting relating to grants and gifts as required in accordance with SAIT's overall strategy, policies, procedures, and timelines.
Ensure compliance with funding guidelines, regulations, and reporting requirements and ensure audit trail or supporting documentation for all financial transactions will be available when required by granting agencies or donors.
Work closely with other areas of Finance and stakeholders to establish accounting setup in financial system for effective expenditure tracking and reporting.
Analyze financial data related to grants, identifying trends, variances, and potential areas for improvement.

Continuously seek to identify opportunities for automation, innovation, and efficiency.
Be a positive agent of change and direction. Proactively work with Finance colleagues and stakeholders to evaluate individual processes, tasks, and workload pressures to reduce redundancies, utilize resources based on expertise, align tasks with appropriate resources and create efficiencies and capacity.
Ability to initiate, implement and support new or modified approaches, practices, and processes in the organization. Understand messaging needs to provide supporting communication and awareness with operational stakeholders.
Pro-actively understand the Finance vision, priorities, and related messaging to ensure consistency in interaction with Schools/Departments to support changing SAIT financial processes and priorities.
Relationship Management
Understand expectations regarding customer/client service standards. Perform daily interactions within the lens of these customer/client service standards to develop and maintain strong working relations with internal and external stakeholders, always exercising a high degree of discretion and sensitivity to confidential information.

Qualifications & Skills
Qualifications, Certifications or Designations
Business/Accounting Diploma or Degree
Three or more years of work experience in a progressively more responsible role performing various accounting functions including budgeting, variance analysis, forecasting, complex reconciliations, and financial analysis.
Attained or working towards a Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) designation
Experience with government grants or non-profit organizations is a plus
Strong understanding of grant regulations and compliance requirements.
