**GRANT WRITER - INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR**

This position would require a Bachelor’s Degree at a minimum (graduate degree optimal) with at least two years of experience as a grant writer, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Capable of balancing multiple priorities effectively. Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and committed to excellence. Capable of working well with a variety of personalities and leadership styles. You are highly organized, have a professional demeanor and problem-solving acumen. Must have previous grant writing, technical writing, CPG Food Industry experience or scientific writing experience. Experience submitting a major Federal or Provincial level grant with many intricacies, deadlines, and deliverables, including innovation and possibly SR&ED components.

**Responsibilities**

Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of the organization.

Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.

Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization.

Submit proposals to grant coordinators for approval.

Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.

Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.

Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities.

**Requirements and skills**

Proven work experience as a Grant Writer or similar role

Proficient with measuring and reaching funding goals

Great with MS Office Word and Excel

Excellent knowledge of fundraising information sources

Exceptional organizational and writing skills

Bachelor’s degree and experience in writing grants is essential

This position is an independent contractor.

Compensation between $25-30/hour based on experience.

Location: Victoria, BC / Remote within Canada

**Salary**: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
