About the Project: +CROSSING+ is a fiction novel rooted in Jamaican Pentecostal spirituality, ancestral memory, and themes of redemption and renewal, blending magical realism with afterlife settings. The story bridges Jamaican cultural history with modern diaspora experience and has deep faith-based themes throughout. Who I’m looking for: An experienced developmental editor with specialization or familiarity in Black/Caribbean diaspora fiction, faith-inspired writing, or cross-cultural literary voice. Bonus if you have sensitivity to Jamaican language/rhythm, storytelling structure, and spiritual context. Scope of Work: Developmental edit of current manuscript (10,000 words) including evaluation of narrative structure, character development, and thematic cohesion Professional editorial report with feedback and recommendations Assessment of whether story expansion would be beneficial, and guidance on expanding while preserving original voice, cadence, and tone Manuscript preparation for publication (layout & formatting for print + digital) Coordination or delivery of illustration or visual elements (cover art, interior layout) Provide an itemized estimate to support grant-funding applications (booking is contingent on successful grant approval) Willing to enter into a written contract that includes timelines and deliverables Project Timeline and Requirements: Start: Estimated early-mid 2026 (pending grants) Experience editing Caribbean, African Diaspora, or faith-based fiction Thorough understanding of narrative structure and literary voice Specific familiarity with themes of redemption, spirituality, and Black cultural storytelling Experience supporting self-publishing authors from manuscript to layout and launch Ability to provide a detailed estimate suitable for grant funding applications How to Apply: Please submit: Your bio and relevant editing experience Examples of past projects you’ve edited (especially diaspora, faith-based, or culturally rooted works) A brief outline of your editorial process and estimated timeline Confirmation that you can provide detailed service breakdown and itemized estimate for grant application Optional: sample editorial letter or partial sample edit if available 📩 Interested?
