**The Opportunity**:
As a member of the HSE Department, the **HSE Lead** will report directly to the Manager - Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSE & Q). This position will be located at our **Edmonton, AB** location. The primary function of this role, is to promote Health & Safety awareness and commitment, by building on existing culture and program strengths. The HSE Lead will serve as the Safety point of contact for addressing Safety challenges at field locations.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Demonstrating strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Environmental practices, the HSE Lead will engage Sanjel’s workforce to communicate and promote corporate HSE objectives, policies, and procedures
- Advise managers and employees about relevant Safe work standards, practices, and procedures, while providing mentorship and training to company personnel on select Safety topics
- Evaluate work activities to determine potential hazards, and to ensure adequate controls are in place; make recommendations for Safety control measures, assist with their implementation, work to ensure consistency etc.
- Participating in formal investigations, the HSE Lead will facilitate root cause analysis of reported incidents, in conjunction with operations, leadership, or other requisite stakeholders
- Assist in maintenance of the Sanjel Health and Safety Management System, ensuring all safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are followed, as required by senior management
- Supporting Safe work practices and procedures for compliance, the HSE Lead will conduct inspections of company facilities and contractors, and assist with corporate and government HSE assessments and audits
- Participate in Emergency Response drills and actual responses at any Sanjel Energy Services or subsidiaries of Sanjel Energy Services location, during and outside of regular work hours
**Qualifications**:
- 7-10 years of relevant experience is required, preferably in the HSE domain. Applicants with requisite HSE experience, combined with strong oilfield operations experience are encouraged to apply
- A Post-secondary Degree, Diploma, or Certificate is preferred. Health, Safety and Environment (OHS or equivalent) Other Business related degree/diploma/certificate. Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation an asset
- Demonstrated understanding of safety management systems, inspection process and hazard reporting
- Experience with root cause analysis, Incident investigation, emergency response is an asset
- Team focused, with the ability to organize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously, under strict deadlines
- Able to provide strong technical writing skills, with the ability to understand OH&S legislation and industry standards; write routine reports, complete regular correspondence, participate in field assessments etc.
- Proficient with MS Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Some travel is needed for this position, a Valid Drivers License and clean abstract is required
