**Restaurant Associates: Line Cook**

Island Spice Flava is opening our second location and are looking for a line cook to join our team We have been around for 20 years specializing in fine Caribbean foods and are excited to be opening a second location to serve a wider variety of clientele. This location will be sports bar oriented and will continue with our established brand name and exceptional service in this fast-pasted restaurant. **Responsibilities**:

- Communicating with management prior to shift regarding special events and daily menu needs
- Ensuring kitchen is ready for business before restaurant opens (food prep, appliances, stocking and opening)
- Closing kitchen
- Learn about the cooking methods and techniques employed in the kitchen
- Study the menu and prepare ingredients ahead of schedule
- Preparing food items to company standards
- Inspecting food orders
- Stock inventory and make purchases as needed
- Ensure all food are packaged with all necessary condiments according to guidelines for take-out
- Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping as well as cleaning of equipment throughout shift
- Assist to Uber, skipthedishes, etc orders for timely delivery
- Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy and respect for customers in all front of the house situations

**Skills and Requirements**
- Minimum 3 years experience as a prep or line cook
- Certified in recognized Safe Food Handling program required
- First Aid certificate and WHMIS certificate preferred
- Experience with Caribbean cuisine.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Quick, efficient and punctual
- Passionate about culinary arts and creative cooking
- Must be able to work independently
- Able to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Physically able to stand and move around for long periods of time

**Salary**: $17.00-$20.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- EAST YORK, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Cooking: 3 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)
