The Manager, Hydro Program, is responsible for program management (group of projects) using the NTPC Project Implementation Framework (PIF) to achieve the programs strategic objectives and benefits.
- The Manager, Hydro Program manages a group of projects and leverages inter-project opportunities to add value where it would otherwise not be attainable through the management of a project in isolation.
- The Manager, Hydro Program is a key contact and support for the project sponsors ensuring the program he/she manages fits the needs of the sponsor.
- Officiates as NTPC Dam Safety Engineer.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- As NTPC Dam Safety Engineer is responsible for and management of the Dam Safety, Emergency Action Plan and provide immediate direction to field personnel on dam safety. Manage and plan field inspections/construction support for dams and appurtenant structures.
- Ensure compliance with dam safety requirements, investigate, and evaluate emergent dam safety issues. Develop concepts for repair/remediation of routine issues and works with other engineering groups and/or consultants to design repair/remediation of major issues. Review designs and specifications for construction projects related to dam safety and organize on-site construction support as needed.
- Accountable for program management (group of projects) using the PIF to achieve the programs strategic objectives and benefits. The PIF includes but is not limited to:

- Option identification.
- Project initiation and entrance into the budget and portfolio.
- Project stage gating - Concept/scoping/pre-feasibility/feasibility/detailed design and construction.
- Option refinement and selection.
- Detail design and construction readiness.
- Construction.
- Commissioning.
- Handover and project closure.
- Accountable for the generation of project and program reports and supports the project prioritizations in collaboration with sponsors and the CPEO. Working with sponsors helps develop authorization for expenditure (AFE). Executes the program with effective communication to sponsors, senior leadership and the projects team.
- Support the CPEO with option identification, project initiation, and option refinement including stage gating, by engaging in project selection activities, evaluating upcoming projects against a set of predetermined criteria and either accepting, changing, or rejecting a project entering the portfolio. Review and advise sponsors regarding life of asset project list, including project and program synergies and splitting or combining projects.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Civil Engineering degree with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in project management with major capital programs of more than $40m annual spend.
- P.Eng. designation required with eligibility to register in NAPEG.
- 5 Years Management/Supervisory experience is required.
- Experience in the design, operation, and maintenance of industrial facilities is required.
- Experience in dam safety processes and procedures is required.
- Knowledge of administrative and financial planning procedures to manage capital projects and to provide advice and recommendations regarding project budgets.
- Strong interpersonal, coaching and team building skills. Proven oral and written communication skills to both supervise staff and collaborate effectively with finance, operations, engineering, and project team members in setting and accomplishing work objectives. and in maintaining effective working relationships with head office and regional staff, community and government representatives and major customers.
- Computer skills to operate a variety of engineering, financial and administrative programs.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
- Successful Criminal Records Check.

Salary for this position ranges from $76.12/hr.$95.14/hr. We offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes health and dental benefits, long term disability insurance, life insurance, paid sick days and a defined benefits pension plan.
