Summer Camp Counsellor

**Overview - Saint-Bruno Summer Camp**

As a Camp Counselor, you will play a key role in creating a fun, safe, and immersive environment for kids. Your primary responsibility is to guide and supervise campers through various camp activities, while ensuring their safety and well-being. You'll work closely with fellow counselors and your supervisor, to implement daily programming, foster positive relationships with campers, and help achieve our goal of teaching English through immersive activities. As a counselor, you are an essential part of the team, and your energy and enthusiasm are crucial to creating a memorable camp experience for everyone

**Prerequisites**
- Must be at least 17 years of age or older.
- Preferred previous experience working with children (preferably in a camp or educational setting).
- First-Aid certification. (We will provide it if not certified).

**Responsibilities**
- Supervising and ensuring the safety and well-being of the campers during activities.
- Leading groups of children through daily camp activities that include games, educational content, arts & crafts, team sports and theatre. (All with the goal of learning languages)
- Creating a welcoming, inclusive environment that promotes teamwork and personal growth.
- Setting up and animating the daily activities (include Daycare).
- Supporting fellow counselors in planning and executing activities such as physical games, language-learning exercises, indoor games, arts & crafts, and sports.
- Keeping activity areas neat and clean throughout the day. Involved cleaning your personal space and common spaces, depending on the agreement with the school.
- Providing feedback on campers’ experiences to Supervisors and Coordinators for improvements.

**Secondary Responsibilities**
- Assisting in finding coverage when ill or absent.
- Participating in staff training and development sessions prior to camp start and during camp season.
- Assisting with welcoming and dismissing campers during drop-off and pick-up times.
- Supporting other staff members in handling disruptive or overstimulated campers.
- Adhering to Langmobile policies and procedures, including safety protocols.
- Assisting with additional duties as assigned by coordinators.

**Skills**
- The ability to work with children and encourage a fun, engaging environment.
- The ability to lead, motivate, and interact with campers in a respectful and positive way.
- Ability to problem-solve and remain calm in high-stress or emergency situations.
- The ability to teach ESL.
- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm when teaching children in a different language.
- Good communication skills, especially when interacting with parents or guardians.
- Multitasking ability when managing multiple campers during activities.
- Strong sense of responsibility for the safety and well-being of the campers.
- Flexibility to adapt to new situations and changes in scheduling or programming.
- Ability to accept feedback, guidance or constructive criticism from camp coordinators and senior staff.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 8 weeks

Pay: $17.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
