Restorative Justice Facilitator

**Position Summary**:
The Restorative Justice Facilitator will implement and manage restorative justice practices to resolve conflicts and address the harm caused by criminal behavior within the community. The facilitator will engage with victims, offenders, and community members to foster healing, accountability, and reconciliation. This role includes organizing restorative justice conferences, mediating between involved parties, and collaborating with justice and community service partners to ensure holistic support for all participants.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Facilitate restorative justice sessions, including preparation, mediation, and follow-up with victims, offenders, and community members.
- Conduct intake assessments to determine the suitability of cases for restorative justice processes.
- Work closely with justice system representatives, such as RCMP, probation officers, and court personnel, to coordinate restorative justice referrals and ensure compliance with agreements.
- Develop personalized action plans with offenders to address the harm caused and support their reintegration into the community.
- Provide ongoing support to victims, ensuring their needs and perspectives are central to the restorative justice process.
- Organize and lead restorative justice conferences and community circles, fostering open communication and mutual understanding.
- Track and document outcomes of restorative justice sessions, including agreements reached and compliance.
- Advocate for restorative justice principles and practices within the community and with justice partners.
- Collaborate with community service providers, including mental health and addiction services, to ensure comprehensive support for participants.
- Participate in public education and outreach activities to raise awareness of restorative justice as an alternative to traditional punitive measures.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Conflict Resolution, or a related field.
- Experience in mediation, conflict resolution, or restorative justice practices.
- Strong understanding of restorative justice principles and the criminal justice system.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and build trust with diverse groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to work with individuals from various backgrounds.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspaces, and database management.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check.
- Clear Child Intervention Record Check
- Standard First Aid Level C with AED
- Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: From $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 per week
