Our growing team consists of both new to government and established employees dedicated to the protection of the health, safety and well-being of children under the care of ECE and ECE assistants in BC. Members of this team value diversity and camaraderie making our work environment both dynamic and supportive. **The Role** As an Investigator, you will make a meaningful difference in the lives of children by certifying ECEs and ECE Assistants, investigating their conduct and competence, and evaluating early childhood education programs in British Columbia. You will be responsible for leading confidential investigations into registrants’ suitability, addressing issues like abuse and neglect, and ensuring compliance with sector standards. Investigators handle sensitive cases, make impactful decisions on professional status, represent the Ministry in appeals, and contribute to policy and training updates. **Qualifications**: **Education and Experience Requirements** - Diploma in Early Childhood Education or a related field plus the *related experience below. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. - Related experience must include all of the following: - Minimum of one (1) years’ experience working in a licensed child care facility. - Experience working with multiple partners and clients. - Experience summarizing and analysing large volumes of information to make clear and concise recommendations and write technical reports. Preference may be given to applicants with: - Bachelor’s degree or higher in early childhood education or a related field. - Diploma or higher in Child and Youth Care. - Completion of formal training (on the job or post-secondary) in investigation techniques and administrative law. - Two (2) years or more experience working in a licensed child care facility. - Hold, or be eligible to hold, British Columbia Early Childhood Educator certification. Provisos: - Must possess and maintain a valid BC class 5 driver’s licence. - May be required to use own vehicle, with appropriate insurance coverage, on an expense account basis. - May be required to travel across BC. **About this Position**: This posting is to establish an eligibility list for future permanent and/or temporary vacancies.
