**ORGANIZATION**: The BC-CfE is a world-renowned HIV/AIDS Centre with an innovative, low-barrier approach to healthcare delivery in clinical practice and an integrated group of research concentrations in Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Trials, Population Health and Epidemiology, Health Economics and Professional Education Programs. A multidisciplinary team of clinicians including Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers and Peers and researchers including Health Economists, Epidemiologists, Clinical Researchers, Statisticians, Programmers, and Data Analysts work collaboratively to improve the health of British Columbians with HIV and communities facing socio-economic barriers in accessing healthcare.

**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Administer and maintain Linux (RHEL, Centos, Ubuntu) servers, ensuring system security, integrity, and high availability.
- Design, develop, and implement Unix/Linux solutions, including monitoring and reporting tools.
- Updating software with the latest security patches and ensuring the proper defences are present for each network resource.
- Develop and implement comprehensive IT security policies, procedures, and best practices in alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Lead or support cybersecurity initiatives.
- Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Configuring security systems, analyzing security requirements, and recommending improvements.
- Monitoring network traffic for suspicious behaviour.
- Creating network policies and authorization roles and defending against unauthorized access, modifications, and destruction.
- Read/Monitor network traffic and security logs to detect and respond to security incidents in a timely manner.
- Lead incident response activities, including investigations, root cause analysis, and remediation efforts.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, threats, and technologies to continuously improve our security posture.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on security awareness and best practices.
- Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies

**ROLE QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education, Training and Experience**

An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field. Advanced training certifications may be advantageous. Five (5) or more years of working experience in Linux and Cyber security environment.

Advanced training certifications CCSP and/or CISSP preferred.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Deep understanding of IT infrastructure, including protocols, network, and operating systems (RHEL, Centos, Ubuntu ).
- A strong understanding and knowledge of computer, network, and cyber security systems.
- Intermediate to expert intrusion detection system/intrusion prevention system knowledge.
- Knowledge of network monitoring tools (PRTG, Zabbix, Wazuh).
- Common L4-L7 protocols knowledge including HTTP, SMTP, IPSec and SSL.
- Firewall and intrusion prevention/detection protocols.
- Packet Analysis Tools - Wireshark.
- Good teaching, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $80,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
