Mohawk College’s **Marshall School of Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship** is seeking a licensed **Electrician (309A or 442A)** to join our **Electrical team** in a dual-role position focused on **teaching** and **curriculum development** with a **specialization in Power Conditioning**. This opportunity supports both the **Electrical** and **Electrical Engineering Technician - Power (403-433)** programs at the **Stoney Creek Campus**.
This hybrid role involves:
- Delivering engaging instruction in electrical courses
- Designing curriculum focused on power quality, diagnostic tools, and advanced energy systems
- Supporting student learning using both traditional and emerging technologies
**What you’ll be doing**:
**Instructional Duties**
- Utilize a student-centered, inclusive teaching approach for both postsecondary and apprenticeship learners.
- Present and assess content related to:
- Motor control and automation
- Power quality analysis
- PLCs (Rockwell RSLogix 5000)
- Electrical installation methods
- Create learning activities and evaluations that align with industry and academic standards.
- Use the college’s eLearning system to support in-person, hybrid, and online delivery models.
**Curriculum Development - Power Conditioning Focus**
- Design and develop curriculum modules for the **Power Conditioning** component of the Electrical Engineering Technician - Power program.
- Voltage regulators, suppressors, isolation transformers, motor generators, UPS systems, and under/over voltage relays
- Power quality diagnostic tools such as power analyzers, thermal imaging, and voltage/current meters
- Collaborate with instructional design specialists and faculty to incorporate adult learning principles and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
- Ensure curriculum reflects Skilled Trades Ontario standards and evolving industry practices.
- Recommend relevant tools, technology, and instructional resources that reflect current industry usage and safety standards.
**What you’ll bring to the role**:
- **Certificate of Qualification** as a **Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A)** or **Industrial Electrician (442A)**.
- ** Certificate of Apprenticeship** or equivalent credential in the electrical trade.
- ** Minimum of 5 years’** recent experience in the electrical field, including work with **power conditioning systems and diagnostic technologies**.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Canadian Electrical Code
- Electrical/electronic theory
- Instrumentation and schematics
- Experience with power quality tools and technologies (e.g., UPS systems, power analyzers, infrared scanners).
- Experience in teaching and/or curriculum design, especially in adult education or postsecondary/apprenticeship settings, is preferred.
- Familiarity with UDL principles and the use of educational technology.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
