**Position Overview**

As an **independent contractor**, you will deliver one-on-one and small-group support to children and adolescents, helping them build life skills, maintain safety, and participate fully in community, school, and recreational activities.

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Direct Care & Supervision**: Mentor and support children during daily routines, outings, therapeutic activities, homework time, and leisure pursuits.
- **Program Development**: Design and implement individualized, engaging programs that foster social interaction, self-regulation, communication, and independence.
- **Collaboration**: Work closely with families, foster caregivers, caseworkers, educators, and allied health professionals to develop and review comprehensive care plans.
- **Documentation**: Maintain accurate records, including activity logs, incident reports, progress notes, and any mandated compliance forms.
- **Crisis Response**: Utilize verbal de-escalation strategies and follow agency safety protocols to manage behavioral challenges and urgent situations.
- **Skill Building**: Teach practical life skills—personal care, meal preparation, budgeting, and community navigation—tailored to each child’s developmental level.

**Qualifications & Requirements**
- **Minimum 5 years’ experience** working with children and youth; experience with developmental disabilities, ASD, FASD, or complex behaviors is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust with young people and multidisciplinary teams.
- Creative flair for designing engaging, age-appropriate activities and lesson plans.
- **Certifications**:

- CPR & Standard First Aid
- UMAB or its equivalent
- Police Vulnerable Sector Check & Police Broad Check
- Post-secondary education in Child & Youth Care, Developmental Services, Social Work, Education, or related field is preferred. Stillwater verifies all certificates.
