**Responsibility Overview**

The primary role of the Healthcare Instructor will be to plan, organize and deliver trainings in an instructor led environment, both online and in class, related to the provision of care by the support workers. The Health Care Instructor will evaluate staff performance and progress through ongoing training, education and evaluation.

The Healthcare Instructor will be reporting to the **Manager of Residential Services**.
- Deliver controlled Acts Training, Pharmacology training, IPAC training and other care related training to staff and ensure curriculum and course outlines are up to date.
- Review and deliver course content in classroom and online when required, this incudes preparing, organizing and implementing course materials, using appropriate educational approaches and techniques: adult learning methodologies, multi-media presentations and incorporating technology into learning process according to agency standards.
- Track attendance and report absenteeism to the Manager of Residential Services and HR department.
- The instructor will ensure that the course content is delivered to meet the requirements set by Public Health, Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, local authorities and other governing bodies.

**Education, Designations and Experience**
- A Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Nursing, Pharmacy or any other registered healthcare stream.
- Minimum of 1 year work experience in a healthcare setting such as emergency department, medical surgical department, and/or community health.
- Experience working in Developmental Services is an asset.
- Experience teaching or facilitating training sessions for adults is an asset.

**Skills & Requirements**
- Proven problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
- Demonstrated computer skills (proficiency in MS Office package, i.e. WORD, EXCEL, OUTLOOK).
- Strong interpersonal skills and accurate documentation.
- Ability to prioritize and plan time efficiently to manage competing demands and to meet deliverables.
- Must have access to own vehicle to be able to visit multiple locations within the greater Hamilton area in a single workday.
- A current and original copy of a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check is required prior to the start of your employment

**WORKING CONDITIONS**

May be required to work in the office, remotely or visit the different Rygiel locations as required.

**PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS**

Physical demands may include extended periods of sitting, walking, standing. On occasion may require pushing, pulling, lifting up to 5 kgs.

**MENTAL DEMANDS**

The role requires periods of concentration, analysis and sense of urgency throughout the workday.
