**WHAT THE POSITION IS**:
We are looking for an Investigator to contribute to our fair, effective, and proactive operations by providing support to the Investigations team relating to ongoing illegal building investigations.
The Investigator **identifies and investigates** (including **field investigations**) violations under the _New Home Construction Licensing Act, 2017. _The Investigator is required to **gather relevant evidence** in accordance with prescribed rules of evidence through **conducting interviews, collecting documentation, and executing search warrants**. In addition, the Investigator will **recommend enforcement actions** (such as prosecution or compliance orders) and will **attend trials and hearings** to provide testimony and evidence in relation to the investigation.
**WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE**:
It is important that you will be able to understand the theories, principles, and standards and practices of the investigation process. You will need to be capable of learning and adapting in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
To thrive in the role, you will need to have experience working with legislation/regulations in a regulatory environment as well as familiarity with or ability to learn related legislation such as _the New Home Construction Licensing Act, 2017_ and related regulations such as Ontario Building Code Regulation under the _Building Code Act, 1992., Criminal Code, Canada Evidence Act, Provincial Offences Act, _and _Ontario New Home Warranties Plan Ac_t.
Having good information research aptitude, high-level of self-direction and initiative, strong records management skills, excellent computer skills and knowledge of proceedings in administrative hearings will enable you to hit the ground running and be successful quickly in this role.
