Job Description of GATE Healing Outreach Staff

The Outreach staff is a position responsible directly to the GATE Outreach Coordinator, under the Gate Program Manager and the Executive Director of the Elizabeth Fry Society Mainland Nova Scotia.
Position Scope: The Outreach Staff is expected to function within the philosophy and principles, rules of work, policies and procedures of the Elizabeth Fry Society Mainland Nova Scotia. The Outreach Staff may be required to take ongoing professional development and training to ensure the necessary skills, knowledge and capacities are maintained and developed.
Subject to reasonable direction by the Employer, you shall perform the following nonexhaustive duties and have the following responsibilities, and such other duties as may reasonably be assigned from time to time:
Job Specific Characteristics
- Support and system navigation
- Comprehensive understanding of confidentiality and boundaries
- Effective data collection and trend identification
- Effective organizational skills
- Knowledge of community organizations in Nova Scotia
- Ability to work cooperatively with community/government agencies
- Knowledge of Human Trafficking interventions and preventions

Job Specific Requirements
- Must be able to connect with clients through phone, text, video or Drop-In, according to shift demands
- Must be able to create client-centred relationships
- Must maintain client records and reports
- Must maintain accurate and up-to-date statistical information
- Must have own vehicle as driving is part of required duties (mileage reimbursed)
- Must have ability to hold liability insurance at $2 Million

- Be familiar with and be able to implement the emergency evacuation plan
- Make appropriate decisions and take appropriate action in limes of crisis
