Established in 1836 in Quebec, Canada, Bishop’s College
School (BCS) is an IB World School offering the International
Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and certificates. With a
campus bordered by farmland and rolling hills on one side and

The Position
Reporting to the Head of School the incumbent is directly responsible for designing,
implementing, managing, and expanding BCS’ philanthropic fundraising strategy. The
Director will manage all components of the strategic fundraising plan including major gifts,
special events, donor stewardship, planned giving, and annual giving, and is expected to
reach or exceed targets established to increase the school’s endowment, fund capital
projects as established by the campus master plan, and fund other projects as determined
by the school’s leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and evaluate the Advancement Department’s work and staff members
- Oversee the planning of alumni activities and special events
- Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and provide stewardship to selected major gift donors
and prospects in consultation and partnership with the department and other
stakeholders
- Maintain contact with key individual BCS alumni
- Work with the Head of School to develop effective solicitation strategies for each
constituent group and prospects to lead to positive long-term philanthropic
relationships
- Provide direction for and work in collaboration with the Communications
Department for advancement and alumni communication

**Director of Advancement**
- Develop new funding opportunities for projects and programs
- Work with the Advancement staff on tracking each prospect, ensuring that each
- move through the solicitation process with effectiveness and efficiency- Write proposals for major gift prospects
- Serve as campaign director and be responsible for the coordination of all aspects
- of a capital campaign- Develop Terms of Reference and/or Donor Agreements for gifts and naming
- Grow the prospect list and incorporate it into the major gift prospect tracking
- system- Identify, recruit, train, and lead volunteers
- Assist the BCS Boards in the development of Advancement reports
- Be responsible for additional activities as requested by the Head of School.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree augmented by relevant advancement experience and study
- Significant senior experience in program development, event and volunteer
- management- Proven track record in fundraising and major gift philanthropy
- Experience with a donor database (Raiser’s Edge) and prospect management tools
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various constituent groups,
- volunteers, and community partners- Motivated professional who is goal-oriented and pursues success
- Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to
- manage several projects simultaneously- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with a preference for bilingualism
