People & Culture Generalist - 18 Month Contract

This position reports to the Manager, People & Culture and is focused on supporting the dynamic day-to-day HR operations at Elexicon by helping design, develop, integrate, and take responsibility for executing people-related initiatives that drives Elexicon’s strategy, vision, and mission.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for overseeing recruitment, on/off-boarding and employee life-cycle programs/processes and for making recommendations to ensure the highest level of employee satisfaction possible.
- Work as part of a cross-functional People & Culture team, providing support and HR advice to all levels within Elexicon Energy on a variety of matters including but not limited to:
- Employee/labour relations, collective agreement interpretation, attendance and disability management, conflict resolution, recruitment, HR policies, practices, and legislation, etc.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure compliance.
- Assist business leaders with methods to promote and reinforce behaviours to support continuous improvement
- Involvement with the development and leading training for managers, supervisors, and employees to build competence and awareness on a variety of topics, initiatives, and programs
- Use HRMS, talent management, and compensation system(s) experience and expertise to ensure maintenance and integrity of HR information and to provide metrics and analytics on various programs and identify areas for change
- Provide advice, recommendations, and assistance to stakeholders to ensure compliance and understanding of company and legislated policies, programs, procedures and standards.
- Support and administer compensation programs to ensure regulatory compliance and modernized salary structure
- Develops and maintains collaborative and effective working relationships with team members and all stakeholders.
- Participates on committees/teams to support the goals and objectives of Elexicon Energy.
- HR administration including pension, benefits and payroll support.
- Other duties as assigned.
KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated experience in full lifecycle recruitment, employee onboarding/offboarding, salary administration, compensation programming, and employee and labour relations
- Working knowledge of relevant HR legislation.
- Comfortable with providing HR advice and guidance to stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication, facilitation, presentation, consulting and coaching skills.
- Pragmatic problem solving skills, sound judgement, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Strong business literacy, consulting, and negotiation skills
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships at all levels within an organization.
- Exhibits uncompromising integrity and commitment to upholding corporate values and behaviours
- Ability to travel to off-site locations in a timely and efficient manner, as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- University Degree or College Diploma with a specialization in HR.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of HR experience with focus in recruitment and employee life-cycle management.
- CHRP or CHRL designation is an asset.
- HR experience in a unionized work environment is an asset.
