**Job description**

Typical day would consist of dispatcher arriving at station 45 minutes before the drivers and checking in with station personnel if there are any deviations in allocated routes. Dispatcher is also to confirm if there are any absences reported by drivers on the day of and have backups ready, this is usually planned on the prior day. From there, dispatcher would sort delivery vehicle keys into pouches, ensure all delivery devices are charged and ready, and wait for drivers to arrive. Upon driver’s arrival, dispatcher would ensure that they are wearing company provided safety vest in accordance with company safety policies, quickly debrief them about their current route, and provide them with vehicle keys, device and charger. After vehicle inspections are completed by all the drivers, they are ready to start loading their vans. Dispatcher is to work with station staff in order to troubleshoot and dispatch all drivers within allotted time. Once all drivers have departed, dispatcher will have a quick sync meeting with operations manager to identify areas of opportunities, what went well, and what performance gaps are present. From there, dispatcher will be monitoring routes using client’s real time technology, answering calls from the drivers, guiding them and coaching them on how to perform deliveries more efficiently and safely from a bird’s eye perspective while solving any problems that may arise. If there are any drivers falling behind, dispatcher will make a contingency plan on how to recover the route so that all deliveries are completed safely and on time. Once drivers have returned back to station after completing their routes, dispatcher will collect vehicle inspection sheets and debrief them regarding their performance and collect their keys and devices. Dispatcher is then responsible to visually inspect all the vans for unreported damage, flat tires etc. and to charge all devices for the next day while working with operations manager in case of any reported next day absences so that proper route coverage can be made.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work with the client to ensure that there are enough drivers scheduled to cover all assigned routes on a daily and weekly level
- Respond to any driver call-back within 10 minutes or less to provide assistance and guidance
- Verify the total number of drivers working each day and recommend if additional drivers are required
- On road auditing of drivers making deliveries to ensure maximum quality and efficiency
- Real-Time route progress monitoring, proactively reaching out to drivers who are behind to understand the barriers, provide assistance, real-time coaching and guidance, and tactical arrangement of assistance so that no driver is left behind
- Work closely with Operations Manager in order to run a successful operation and identify areas of opportunity and improvement for driver performance
- Provide real-time assistance to drivers on the road over the phone, or sometimes going on the road to provide feedback and coaching
- Ensure drivers are following all safety and company policies and that standard operating procedures are being followed while in station and on the road
- Maintain high customer service standards by coaching drivers on how to attain desirable metrics/performance by using client provided tools
- Maintaining detailed records and reports to be reviewed by Operations Manager
- Analyzing data to increase business operational efficiency
- Partner with the client to ensure on road barriers are being resolved (inaccessible delivery areas, street closures etc.) and re-route drivers as needed
- Maintain a healthy fleet of vehicles by arranging regular maintenance and repairs as needed
- Occasionally perform basic vehicle maintenance (e.g. tire replacement, indicator bulb replacement)
- Perform deliveries in events where are not enough drivers available
- Other duties as assigned by Operations Manager

**Qualifications**:

- Valid G Driver’s License with clean Abstract
- High School Diploma/GED or higher
- Previous Dispatcher experience required (6 months minimum)
- Previous parcel delivery experience (6 months - 1 year minimum)
- Able to perform the most basic vehicle maintenance (Tire change, bulb replacement)
