About the Company

New Roots Herbal is a leading Canadian manufacturer and distributor of high-quality natural health products. With over 100 employees, we produce, market and distribute over 335 different natural health products to over 16 countries through 8,600 independent natural-products stores. About the Position

The New Roots Group is a collection of entities whose businesses continue to grow, we are now strengthening our Accounting Department. Reporting to the financial controller, this position will be supported by the accounts receivable and payable teams.

Tasks & Responsibilities
- Participate in the full accounts payable and receivable accounting cycle and month-end process;
- Reconcile subsidiary ledgers with the general ledger;
- Reconcile intercompany accounts;
- Maintain capital expenditure and depreciation records;
- Maintain prepayment and accrual schedules;
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis;
- Review accounts payable, including credit card statements, expense reports, supporting documentation, GL code, obtain approval and record in a timely manner;
- Prepare monthly financial statements;
- Prepare monthly and annual analyses;
- Participate in the preparation and review of monthly GST/QST reports;
- Participate in the preparation of the year-end audit and any other government audit;
- Assist in establishing and maintaining internal controls;
- Support the Controller in all financial matters of the organization;
- Provide support to the accounts receivable, accounts payable and general accounting departments;
- Maintain exchange rates in the system;
- Assist with inventory costing;
- Assist with special projects and/or any other related duties as needed.

Skills & Competencies
- University degree and CPA accounting designation (required);
- More than 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment (an asset) ;
- Excellent understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices;
- Experience in managing full cycle bookkeeping and financial statement preparation;
- Good knowledge of ERP systems, SAP Business One, SQL (an asset) ;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including advanced knowledge of Excel and with proven ability to handle large amounts of data ;
- Good knowledge of manufacturing costing ;
- Strong problem solving skills ;
- Good team player, work well under pressure and ability to meet deadlines;
- Good written and verbal communication skills in both French and English;
- Excellent time management, project management and planning skills;
- Thoroughness and excellent attention to detail.

Education & Experience
- CPA designation (mandatory).

Work Schedule

Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
40 hours / week
Permanent full-time position
