**The opportunity**:
Under the general direction of the Manager, CLSP and the Operations Lead, CLSP the incumbent is responsible for the provision of technical support to all Clinical Learning & Simulation Program operations within the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences including preparation, maintenance, and repair of simulation equipment (software and hardware), task trainers, and related peripherals, set-up/clean-up of simulation rooms, lab stations, instruments, and equipment for educational sessions. The incumbent for this position must be able to work evenings until 9:00 pm and Weekends from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, with a rotating schedule of two (2) weekends on and two (2) weekends off and must have the ability to remain flexible in shift start and end times to meet program requirements.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare simulation and debriefing areas, patient care simulators, scenario props, supplies, and equipment to support the clinical and skills objectives and specifications identified by instructional staff.
- Serve as a simulator operator (“driving” the Mannequin) by running scenarios with faculty instructors, ensuring that the facility and equipment are set-up for teaching sessions. Safely work with medical equipment. Prepare/set up medical equipment in the simulation labs, including but not limited to ventilators, monitors/defibrillators, anaesthesia machines, ultrasound machines, and surgical microscopes. Troubleshoot issues as required.
- Safely work with and handle medical supplies including but not limited to sharps (needles, scalpels) and surgical instruments.
- Serve as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation. Assist instructors with the implementation of scenarios; may deliver information to an ongoing scenario or play the voice of the mannequin (patient) from the booth.
- Assist users in identification of equipment and supplies required for their program delivery. Make recommendations as to the appropriate use of simulation resources as well as options available to support meeting their learning objectives; ensure that session set-up requirements are documented for future sessions.
- Complete the set-up, preparation, and tear down of synthetic, virtual, and other trainers.
- Complete the set-up, stocking, preparation, and safe disposal of biological samples including animal and human cadaveric parts used in the Skills Lab.
- Advise the Purchasing Coordinator of deficiencies in supply quality and quantity as well as new requirements. Assist with maintaining storage areas to ensure they are orderly and properly stocked.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of lab space including cleaning and stocking lab instruments, work surfaces, and related equipment. Routinely clean glassware, instruments, and equipment and does basic service and maintenance work on laboratory equipment.
- Ensures instructor and student compliance with lab policies, procedures, and safety precautions.
- Understand the use and operation of different simulator technologies ranging from anatomic models to task trainers to screen-based simulations to full body patient simulators and virtual reality surgical simulators.
- Assemble task trainer simulators and prepares for use.
- Power on high-fidelity human-patient simulators and associated peripherals. Control pre-programmed and “on-the-fly” scenarios for high-fidelity human-patient simulators with the help of a medical professional; may edit trends or enter pre-programmed scenarios to mannequin software.
- Resolve technical problems with systems and equipment through searches in technical manuals and/or consultation with supplier technical support staff.
- Complete equipment assembly, minor repairs and/or adjustments or more specialized repairs (e.g. to Simulation Mannequins, task trainers, etc.)
- Conduct preventative/routine maintenance processes and Simulation/Medical Equipment including tracking and recording of all maintenance conducted.
- Instruct faculty users and students in the operation, safe handling, and use of simulation equipment, medical equipment, and trainers.
