**The Opportunity**:
Tetra Tech is adding a **Junior Geophysicist (Near-Surface Geophysics)**to our **Geophysics**team based in **Vancouver, AB**.**
Our Geophysics Group has team members in Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver, though we work on projects across Western and Northern Canada. Much of our work is completed in collaboration with engineering groups within Tetra Tech, allowing our team to specialize in complex interdisciplinary projects, particularly supporting geotechnical engineering projects.
The role includes a significant fieldwork component, with frequent travel to work sites to complete data collection. Field programs range from a few days to a few weeks in duration. Conditions are often physically challenging and include traversing mountainous terrain in remote locations.
The hourly rate for this position is $32 to $36 per hour. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.

**Your Role**:
- Support a wide variety of geophysical projects throughout the whole project cycle. Projects can range from one-person small local jobs to multi-person larger projects at remote helicopter-access sites in northern BC or the Arctic.
- Plan and complete geophysical data collection surveys, including, but not limited to, seismic refraction, MASW, VSP, ERT, electromagnetics, downhole, non-destructive testing, and GPR.
- Field troubleshooting and equipment maintenance.
- Safety and logistics planning.
- Process and interpret geophysical data collected in the field.
- Work closely with other team members to deliver assignments on schedule and within budget.
- Represent Tetra Tech as a leading industry expert when interfacing with our clients.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Follow Tetra Tech’s safety policies and procedures, work safely at all times, and report any health and safety-related incidents or concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
**Qualifications**:
- A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University.
- Registered as a Geophysicist-In-Training with APEGA or EGBC, or eligible for immediate registration.
- 0-5 years of experience. Experience in near-surface and/or consulting geophysics is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of near-surface geophysical methods.
- Willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Positive attitude and sense of adventure.
- Ability to clearly communicate information about geophysics methods and limitations.
- Adaptable to different work environments and able to work with diverse teams.
- Aptitude for working long hours outside in all seasons.
